ASSESSMENT OF THE OFFICE OF ORGANIZATION FITEC
On July 24, the heads of the Department of Culture of the City Council of Getafe, meet for the first time since the celebration of FITEC 2016, to kick off what will be the programming of the 20th edition of the FITEC in the year 2017.
The Getafe City Council decides to change the working criteria with the Asociación Cultural Destellos, trying to gain greater prominence with respect to the Festival, directly hiring part of the artistic program, and taking greater control over the artistic proposals of the FITEC, as well as supervising the structure organization of the Festival, in relation to the necessary personnel, and the resources destined to the attention of companies, promotion of FITEC and internal organization of the Festival.
It is the Getafe City Council that organizes the Press Conference to present the 20th edition of the FITEC in Getafe that is held on September 24, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. The Press Conference takes place in the outer Courtyard of the Hospitalillo de San José de Getafe. During the presentation the novelties and trends related to the street shows of the festival are explained. It reports the incorporation of Getafe C.F. as sponsor of the Festival, which among its novelties, includes the celebration of the first Flamenco Festival “Lunas Flamencas”, which covers all the programming of the Hospitalillo Patio space. The celebration, within the FITEC Festival program, of the Spanish final of “The Battle of the Year”, an international Urban Dance meeting whose finalists will obtain the pass to the final held in Germany, is also reported.
The Organization Team, is reduced to a structure of 2 people in coordination-management work, plus 4 more logistic support, corresponding to the City Council of Getafe hiring the rest of the Festival staff, of which no data are available in the FITEC coordination office.
29 professional theater, dance, music and circus companies, in the official program, with a total of 51 performances, plus 5 groups that participated in the Spanish edition of “The Battle of the Year”. The Getafe City Council decides to eliminate the “Off-FITEC” program. We do not have data from the coordination office of the Festival of the participants in the “Lunas Flamencas” meeting included in the FITEC program.
The number of spectators in the street is estimated at around 50.000 spectators, although this data is not collated from the Festival’s coordination office, since the lack of personnel coordinated directly by the FITEC greatly hindered the collection of data about it.
It is dismissed by the FITEC, the installation of El Portal in person because of the lack of personnel for it. If The “Virtual” El Portal is maintained for the FITEC programmers, however, the 10% offer on Cachet of Companies under contract at the Fair is maintained.

With respect to the Art-FITEC Market, the Getafe City Council, made the decision to award it to an external company, outside the coordination of the FITEC, so we do not have data on the organization, execution and development of the same, in addition of its socio-economic impact of the Market with respect to the programming of the Festival.
Within the Exhibition Program, the FITEC holds an exhibition of Posters of the 20 years of history of the Festival in Getafe.
With regard to the activities of the Parallel Arts of the FITEC Festival, the “A Jugar a la Calle” Program, is once again committed, dedicating different spaces and schedules to the realization of workshops and games in the streets of Getafe, as a claim of the street as a space to play. The photographic marathon is suspended again, mainly due to budgetary constraints.
The Training Program Entre-Espacios is again relegated to future editions due to the economic conditions and the short time that the organization team has had to carry out its Workshops and Seminars.
The Meeting of Living Statues has to be postponed again due to budgetary constraints.
